Katalin Vida

Counseling psychologist

Marriage and family therapist

EMDR-practitioner

I provide individual counseling both in English, and in Hungarian to adults who are experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns.

My specialties include treatment for relationship problems, adjustment and transitional difficulties for expatriates living in Hungary, women’s issues, performance enhancement, anxiety, perfectionism, low self-esteem and family of origin issues.

In addition to providing regular talk therapy, I also provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a form of psychotherapy that was developed by psychologist, Francine Shapiro, in the 1980s. EMDR was originally developed to treat posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Since that time, EMDR has been used successfully for many other issues, including stress, insomnia, performance anxiety, performance enhancement, abuse and many other issues.

I am a registered member of the Hungarian Psychological Association, the EMDR Hungarian Association and the Hungarian Family Therapy Association.
